The pre-requisites for Preparatory Courses for Singapore – Cambridge GCE A Level

  • 17 years old and above; and
  • Completed GCE O level or year 10 education with pass in English; or
  • Other qualifications assessed based on equivalence to qualifications required by
    Ministry of Education(MOE), Singapore

Application Fee of SGD$305.20 is payable to STEi Institute Pte. Ltd. This fee is non-refundable under all circumstances. Student can make payment via TT, bank draft or cheque.

Above course fees do not include the registration and examination fees payable to Singapore Examination and Assessment Board.

Medical Insurance Scheme

STEi hereby confirms and undertakes to students that it has in place a medical insurance scheme for all its students.

Fee Protection Scheme

STEi provides fee protection scheme for all students as required by the Committee for Private Education (CPE) and is aligned with the EduTrust requirements.

Our appointed FPS provider is Liberty Insurance Pte Ltd.

All course fees are payable to “STEi Institute Pte Ltd” account with DBS Bank in Singapore (Account No. : 003-909401-9).

General Paper (H1)

Aims to enable students to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Understand better the world in which they live by fostering a critical awareness of continuity and change in the human experience
  • Appreciate the interrelationship of ideas across disciplines
  • Broaden their global outlook while enabling them to remain mindful of shared historical, social and cultural experiences both within Singapore and regionally
  • Develop maturity of thought and apply critical reading and creative thinking skills
  • Develop the skills of clear, accurate and effective communication
  • Develop the skills of evaluation of arguments and opinions
  • Promote extensive and independent reading and research.

Mathematics (H2)

Aims to enable students to:

  • Acquire mathematical concepts and skills to prepare for their tertiary studies in mathematics, sciences, engineering and other related disciplines
  • Develop thinking, reasoning, communication and modelling skills through a mathematical approach to problem-solving
  • Connect ideas within mathematics and apply mathematics in the contexts of sciences, engineering and other related disciplines
  • Experience and appreciate the nature and beauty of mathematics and its value in life and other disciplines.

Physics (H2)

The aims are to:

  • Provide students with an experience that develops their interest in Physics and builds the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for further studies in related fields
  • Enable students to become scientifically literate citizens who are well-prepared for the challenges of the 21st century
  • Develop in students the understanding, skills, ethics and attitudes relevant to the Practices of Science, including the following:
    — Understanding the nature of scientific knowledge
    — Demonstrating science inquiry skills
    — Relating science and society
  • Develop in students an understanding that a small number of basic principles and core ideas can be applied to explain, analyse and solve problems in a variety of systems in the physical world.

Economics (H1)

Aims to develop in students:

  • Develop an understanding of fundamental economic concepts, theories and principles, and of the tools and methods of analysis used by economists
  • The ability to use the tools and methods of economic reasoning to explain and analyse economic issues, and to evaluate perspectives and decisions of economic agents
  • The habit of reading critically, from a variety of sources, to gain information about the changing economic activities and policies at the national and international levels
  • The ability to use evidence in making well reasoned economic arguments to arrive at rational and considered decisions.

Principles of Accounting (H2)

Aims to develop in students:

  • An understanding of the concepts, principles and practices of accounting and the ability to apply them in a variety of business and personal situations
  • An understanding of the role of accounting as an information system for monitoring, problem-solving and decisionmaking in changing economic, social and technological environments
  • A critical approach to analysing and evaluating accounting policies and practices
  • Skills of communication, analysis, interpretation and presentation of both qualitative and quantitative accounting information.

Students who successfully complete the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Advanced Level examinations will be awarded by the Ministry of Education, Singapore and University of Cambridge International Examinations with reference to the subjects which they passed. Students should pass at least one (1) subject with credit level to be issued a certificate.

In order to be conferred the course award, the student must achieve a pass for STEi Examination, and at least 75% of class attendance. Student’s Pass Holders are required to maintain a class attendance of 90% and above.

Students may enrol in local or overseas universities.

Note: Progression pathway is subject to the respective universities’ entry requirements at the point of application.
